Re: WNRO (week number roll over) bug once battery removed

Thank you for the heads up. The update went very quickly, after a minor glitch in which the zumo kept rebooting instead of mounting on my desktop. I worked around that by powering up and letting it acquire satellites before plugging it into the USB port.

Re: WNRO (week number roll over) bug once battery removed

Did you do a master reset after updating the firmware? No. Never had to do one after a firmware update before. Never had to do one after map updates, either. The only time a master reset has been needed over the last ~10 years was to change cell phones or bluetooth headsets. (Specifically, to delet...

Re: WNRO (week number roll over) bug once battery removed

...Updating the firmware two weeks ago did not, as I'd hoped matter. Since then, I've found the Zumo to be less than reliable for navigation. Should NOT be due to the new mapset based on the roads it can no longer find. Frustrating!... Did you do a master reset after updating the firmware? It is no...

Re: WNRO (week number roll over) bug once battery removed

Has anyone tried connecting the zumo to a power supply and then removing the battery? Does that prevent the problem?

Re: WNRO (week number roll over) bug once battery removed

Thank you very much for posting this. I was about to pop out my battery to transfer a bunch of routes for an upcoming trip to my micro-SD card. After reading this topic, I will definitely put up with the glacial USB transfer instead and be very careful not to jiggle the battery while doing so.

Re: New routing flakiness

axil, Thanks. I like to dive into the XML and edit filenames and also arrange things by trips and create dividers in the GPX folder on my SD card, but none of that has any bearing on how the route behaves; it's just easier for my brain to follow when I'm on the road. (You can make dividers by using ...

Re: New routing flakiness

For what it's worth, I do this a little differently and do not have much trouble with routes. Create the route in BC. Export it (not drag or copy it) as a GPX file, saving it wherever you like on your computer or an external drive, but NOT on your zumo. Connect the zumo, then drag the file onto the ...

Re: New routing flakiness

Very glad to hear you are seeing some potential improvement.

One question: are these routes using the same start and end points? I know my 660 basically refuses to navigate routes if the start and end are too close together, much less identical.

Re: New routing flakiness

axil: You can reformat the unit, but it is very unlikely it will fix this problem and is a last resort, better used when the directory has become corrupted (gibberish file names displayed) or other drastic mess. I've rescued a few Garmin GPSes this way, but it's risky. You have to make a perfect cop...

Re: Motorcycle mount cradle failing

Not all contact cleaners are equally effective. Some in fact can damage the circuit boards if it gets inside. The very best one I have found, recommended to me by my son, who uses it daily in his NY recording studio, is Deoxit. I use both the cleaner and the protective spray. Not cheap, but you only...
