Re: Soldering bullet plugs is next
I have my XT cradle wired directly to the battery as well. Some prefer it that way, others don't. No biggie either way. While there I also installed a battery tender lead for when the bike sits for an extended period.

Re: Which GPS To Buy Now
Yeah, the XT's faster road thing still aggravates the crap out of me. I've gotten into the habit of selecting a destination to let the XT calculate then touching the screen to get an overall view and then selecting a couple points (farthest away first, select as next stop, repeat) to shape a route m...

Re: Music on SD card
Thanks all. It seems I need to create a folder for each artist on the card within the zumo. I’m out today but I shall give it a try later on and report back. I am definitely NOT a computer geek, thus I have no idea what a "tag" or "metadata tag" are as described by Ikraus. I am ...

Re: Music on SD card
I play my music on shuffle on the XT by touching Music and select the source, MP3. There you have a list where you can play all songs, by album, by artist, etc. Again, I don't use any of that. On my display, when the music is playing, I touch the crossed arrows for shuffle.

Re: Music on SD card
Has nothing to do with Garmin and everything to do with file management. Can't help with a Mac but I use the File Explorer on my Win machine to see the SD Card as a drive called Memory Card. I do this without removing the card from the XT but I understand from Mac users it may be better to place the...

Re: Tips for matching routes on two XT's
I'd include the track on each device and verify similarity. That way, as a precaution, regardless what the route may do on a device the exact track will never change.

Re: Fuel Gauge Setting ?
I reset the trip odometer every time I fill up. It will do between 250 and 280 miles to a tank, so I start looking for fuel at around 220. But the fuel gauge isn't bad either. The various Zumo trips and bike stats - I can't be bothered with. Although I used to use the total riding time as an indica...

Re: Fuel Gauge Setting ?
ya the 2005 Kawasaki 800 carb has no fuel gauge  I did not think that any bike in the 800 size range built in 2000+ would not have a gauge, especially one suitable for touring. I had the 650-750's of the 80's and 90's. The biggest fuel worry was switching back to run after filling up so you ...

Re: Fuel Gauge Setting ?
To me the XT fuel setting are useless bloat that I would love to delete. Last bike I owned that didn't have a fuel gauge was back in the 90's. I certainly don't need estimates from the XT when I have actual fuel level right there on my dash. I understand the 800 doesn't have one (you have the carb m...

Re: How to transfer waypoints to SD card on XT
with my routes and waypoints on files on the SD Card, I can delete those unneeded in internal memory and re-import them again whenever needed, that will keep 32GB storage space used in internal memory lower, putting most of the storage of waypoints and routes on the 64GB SD Card. I might even be ab...
