Regarding workaround handlebar controller:
Leave headset off. First boot xt2 and wait for completed bootup. Then turn on headset. The handlebar will work more consistently. Please test also and please report findings.

If you pair the Sena as second phone with the zumo then the priority is differnent.

First remove all pairing in XT and both headsets.
pair rider headset to XT2 ( as GPS )
pair you phone to the xt2
pair pillion head to riders headset.
Do not connect headset to the phone

Same experience here. When navigate a route: When i want to zoom in : zoom function not avaiable. When using a track ( no navigation instructions need) the zoom funtion withe the handlebar controller works fine. Reboot the xt2 does sometimes solve the issue

From a warm start of the XT2 ( from sleep ) none of the buttons are working. Zooming is the primary function for me. Buttons are lighted though.
Garmin support is looking into this issue. Give them some time

I make my routes in Basecamp. Convert them to a track ( in basecamp ) Import the track via Tread in the XT2. Convert track to a route via tread and sync to XT2. In XT 2 recalulation is off. Track is made visiable onde the converted route. This works like a charm
