Re: Ferries: Does anyone have any experience?

As others have said, on side stand, in 1st gear, strap over saddle (I use gloves for padding). I've never felt the need for straps on wheels, but I might if a storm was forecast!

Re: So, who trusts their XT's navigation?

It's close enough that I have no desire to look for an alternative.

Re: So, who trusts their XT's navigation?

Exactly! Although TBF the only thinking it fails to do properly is when recalculating a route which you've left, or want to leave. That's certainly a fault in the XT, but failing that fault being fixed (which now seems unlikely) I find it simpler to avoid it rather than struggle to work round it.

I think this is key. I never have a problem with XT navigation because I never recalculate routes. I work my own way round problems.

Re: XT cutting corners to unsuitable roads

This is what all Zumos seem to do. Personally I've learnt to check each route carefully for just such occurances. I'll be interested to see if anyone has found a solution!

Re: I thought I was smarter than I am

Sorry - late to the party! I don't transfer from MRA to XT via USB. I simply use MRA to determine if my Basecamp route needs further shaping to make it more universal and possibly more sensible. Once I have a gpx that yields the same route on the two programs it is stored in my Basecamp library ...

Re: I thought I was smarter than I am

I've not yet had a problem when sharing routes. My 5-stage process is
a) set the XT never to recalculate routes
b) create route in Basecamp
c) export gpx file, import into MRA and add any further shaping points required
d) un-tick all boxes on Device Transfer
e) send to XT

Re: Garmin Drive to Garmin XT issues

I too was having trouble last week using the MRA - Drive - XT transfer, but in my case Garmin Drive just wasn't showing any files ready to transfer, whatever I tried. However, the Drive app was updated 3 days ago, and on trying again it's now working perfectly. Which is very frustrating, given I've ...

Re: How would you emphasize a mandatory fuel stop?

Won't an announced waypoint be sufficient? Perhaps you could drag the route onto the forecourt if that's shown on the map.

Re: So, who trusts their XT's navigation?

To answer the original question - "I do". It seems rock solid to me. I have recalculation set to "off", as any route can be reloaded from the SD card, its track can be made visible, I can zoom in and out when necessary and I can temporarily stop the route to navigate to the next waypoint. So I've ...
