Would help to know what speed camera database you're using but with some they can be turned off, how or whether possible depends on the database.

Try clearing the cache by deleting C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Garmin\BaseCamp\ProductDataCache and DeviceCache

Not sure if this is your issue but note that you cannot change via BaseCamp routes on your device, you need to make the changes before sending the route.

Check in Settings, Map&Vehicle, myMaps to see what is shown and that a valid map is selected.

If nothing choose the Reinstall option in Express

I use Mapsource for creating all my routes for my Zumo 660, (but Basecamp for my Camper 760 Nuvi unit). The benefit of Mapsource is the ability to right click and view in Google Satellite Imagery on Google Maps, something sadly lacking with Basecamp. Easy enough to do although as you say no longer ...
