Re: Merry Xmas

Merry Christmas. Can't stop, got to do something before I forget.

Does anyone know how to get a note to stay up the chimney ? It just keeps falling down when I do it.

Re: Setting "Home" phone number

I believe that you can add a number to your home location - which is in Tools / My Data / Set Home Location.

Sorry, i no longer have a 660, so I can't verify this, but that is what the manual says.

Re: Base amp with 595lm and 550

No - in direct answer to the question - But i have different versions of maps on my Basecamp installation to match the ones I am using on my 590. My 590 has the latest mapping and also the Uk area of open street maps. I also retain an older version of the maps on Basecamp. I just select the one that...

Re: New member from old forum

I very much doubt it for me (re mobile phones as sat navs) I like the ability to plan stuff on the computer and transfer it to the satnav - and to transfer the logs back again. Last time we bought a car, we got one with a satnav built in - and for the price of the additional extra, my humble opinion...

Re: help

A year late, but the trick is to pair the headset to the Zumo (make sure you can play media and get navigation instructions through the headset), and then pair the phone to the Zumo. The Zumo has various Bluetooth connection options for each BT device (phone, media, data, etc), which can be selected...

Re: Routes and Waypoints

Garmin uses a mixture of names, as do users, but the normally accepted way is that a basic route consists of a start and finish. Users can add to that additional points; shaping points, that are not announced and can be easily skipped without intervention, and viapoints, which are announced and whi...

Re: Planning a route with waypoints

The issue is not Shaping Points vs Waypoints. Waypoints are locations that are prepared and stored ready for use - maybe in a route, maybe not. They contain additional information such as address, phone number, elevation. They can be created in Basecamp using the flag tool, or obtained from the data...

Re: Zumo 595 thoughts after 1500km (1000 mile tour)

Ah - ok. Shaping point are skipped automatically IF you join the plotted route after that shaping point. If you don't it will continue to try to take you back to it. Skipping then removes that point and the Zumo calculates a route to the next plotted point in the route. [edit] The above is what happ...

Re: CN Europe NT 2020.2

Windows machine ? Try running Garmin Express as administrator. Also, i noticed a different in file structure with recent releases. It puts files where you specify and a shortcut where the files used to be stored. Find out where on your system the working maps are located, and install the files there...

Re: Zumo 595 thoughts after 1500km (1000 mile tour)

Thanks for that information about the 595. The 590 has a skip button, but you have to enable it as one of the visible map tools. The answer that they gave you is almost correct, but not quite. Correct is that if you join the plotted magenta line after a shaping point, then the satnav will automatica...
