Re: Zumo 396 Bluetooth Earbud Alternatives

I bought one of these and have bern pleased so far. I use it to feed my GoldWing Aux input, but it has plenty to drive earbuds.

Re: Avoiding interstates not working.

I have now switched both the 396 and BC to driving. Seems to have helped, and made it a bit more like the StreetPilot. Sad that you buy a device supposedly made for motorcycle use and have to learn these tricks. Has anyone at Garmin ever ridden a motorcycle?

Re: Zumo 396 Audio

Let me advise to NOT waste money on ebay Bluetooth receivers. One was DOA, another lasted about 300 miles. Buy on from Amazon (not one of their vendors) so you at least have a 30 day warranty. I ended up buying a Bluetooth receiver that is powered by my bike and boots up when it powers up.

Re: Zumo 590 with phone, BT headphones and smartphone app

I'll try with my 396. Before, the Zumo locked out my phone and intercom, and sometimes refused to communicate with my SMH5.
BTW, do you have to join that site to download?

Re: I’m Totally Out of Ideas

This is one of the things that screwed me up on my 396, even on Basecamp-created routes. You must select the starting point (even though you may well be there) as where you want to go. Welcome to the new paradigms. Also, select Automobile, not motorcycle if that is an option unless you are going off...

Avoiding interstates not working.

I have Basecamp (Win10) with motorcycle profile set to avoid interstates. Doesn't mater if set for fastest or shortest routes, it jumps to the superslabs and I have to include dozens of shaping points to keep it off. What gives? AmI going to have to individually select every interstate highway in th...

I'd say that unit should be replaced no questions asked by Garmin. That much error is inexcusable.

Re: 395 Turning off and On

I don't understand how this happens on a unit with a backup battery. It happened twice on my 396 on our 4200 mile trip in May, an one time it "forgot" almost half the trip log. Seems that if the charging contacts were flaky, it woul just drop down to the battery. Back when my StreetPilot 2...

Re: Zumo 595 Review after first serious use

Good review, and a good example of Garmin's lack of attention to detail for motorcycle units. Seems they are putting all of their efforts into wearable fitness devices and hiking assist units now. Auto units like Nuvi and Diesel may be our best bets now.

Re: Following route created on Basecamp

It is a common mistake, only because of the screwy way the GPS works. A route entered into the unit should be followed. If it were the old SP 2730, that is what it would do.
