Offset means that one wire is longer than the other so the posi locks don't sit side by side. No pictures available as it's all buttoned up and heat shrinked. I just use ordinary Posi Locks.

I use a Samsung Galaxy S23 so Android. I am not sure if texts come through on the XT or not, however the "OK Google" command works so you could get Google to read out the text if you so desire.
I find setting the XT as a GPS suits my needs perfectly.

Yes I suppose. I very very rarely listen to music while riding, maybe sometimes if I'm on a particularly long ride.

I have no answer to your problem but a question, why is album art important if you just want to listen. I do understand the wanting things to work as they should but I could live without album art and stress less.

If he has an early model he can convert the .gpx to .itn in a number of ways, ITN Converter or Tomtoms online planner, Tyre To Travel and many others.

It rather depends on what Tomtom device your friend has, older Tomtoms can only handle .itn files later devices can use both .itn and .gpx
