Yup, I know that.
But thanks for taking the time to respond.
It's appreciated.

Re: Zumo 660 Screen Brightness Fix
Thanks! I sent an email and the vendor responded in short order. Alas, he said the only fix is a crapshoot that may or may not solve the problem. It's worked from some people, but not for others. He also mentioned that he's had other complaints about the dimness of the display on other 660 devices s...

Zumo 660 Screen Brightness Fix
I've owned a Zumo 660 for several years now and have been very unimpressed with the screen brightness...barely readable in bright conditions and significantly dimmer that other Garmin's I've owned. I bought it as a reconditioned unit from a reputable vendor and, reading a few other complaints along ...

Re: Real cures for erratic behavior Zumo 660
Did you do a Master Reset after you last loaded a new map set on your 660? Save your Favorites before the Master Reset so you can reload them. No. I've been holding it as a last resort. In my searching, I've read far too many threads where a Master Reset was often suggested almost reflexively, and ...

Re: Real cures for erratic behavior Zumo 660
I had an opportunity to try using the Automobile mode on a motorcycle day trip last weekend. It's to laugh. I didn't fall for any funny stuff because I really didn't need the GPS as I was more-or-less familiar with the route. The GPS was set for fastest time, and the only avoidances were non-i...

Re: Real cures for erratic behavior Zumo 660
If you mount your GPS in the car mount and energize it, it will ask you if you want to switch to the CAR mode. If you say yes, it will stay in that mode when in the car mount. ...But each time you power it up in the motorcycle mount it will ask the same question... That describes the behavior I exp...

Re: Real cures for erratic behavior Zumo 660
Hmmmm. It seems the best solution so far then, is not to run in motorcycle road. I considered this on one of my previous trips this year but since the device kept prompting me to return to motorcycle mode I really never gave it a try. I have a potential trip coming up , the first day of which would ...

Re: Zumo 660 and SD card
Another way to free up space is to remove all unused languages, vehicles, voices, and jpg files. Save then to your computer in case you want to use them later. If you open windows explorer, you can see where these files are. Make a folder on your computer with the same foler names and copy them bef...

Re: Real cures for erratic behavior Zumo 660
I forgot to mention this earlier:
To avoid one of the weird off-highway side trips I experienced on the outbound leg of a recent trip, I went through the return trip step by step hoping to catch and avoid the missteps on the way back.
None showed and none happened.
It all seems so random.

Re: Real cures for erratic behavior Zumo 660
I have had both of these happen. 1.) This one was explained by how I routed with the mapping software. This, I can understand. I've made my share of mistakes with routing programs, too. :-( However, the behavior I'm referring to is by the device itself. No custom routing is involved. 2.) Never have...
