FWIW, If you hold the power button, It will go into a Turn off mode and ask if that is what you want to do. Simply hitting the power button is actually sleep mode. It will time out of sleep mode and shut off after a period of time.

I left it outdoors about 10 minutes, enough that it went into sleep mode.
I'll give 30 minutes a try.

I cracked the touchscreen on my XT some time ago. Although damaged, it worked fine. I recently replaced the touchscreen and now it is not getting any satelite data.
