Re: How to adjust GPS average speed to make ETA close to actual

Thanks lkraus. I was hoping I could make the GPS give me a better ETA. I lead group rides and when I make a reservation at a restaurant I do my best to be there a few minutes prior to my reservation. If I could make the GPS give a more accurate ETA it would be easier to arrive when I want. I guess ...

Re: How to adjust GPS average speed to make ETA close to actual

Thanks Russ. This is what I have tried and it only seems to result in making a difference in the amount of time Basecamp projects it will take to ride the route. When the route is loaded to either the Zumo 550 or the XT it isn't making any change to the ETA on the GPS. Any other ideas would be appr...

How to adjust GPS average speed to make ETA close to actual

I have spent several hours attempting to figure out how to make the ETA on my Zumo 550 and/or my Zumo XT to be a little closer to real world ETA. I know there is a way in Basecamp to adjust average speed on different roads and any adjustment there is reflected in the software. However, when the rou...

Re: Is my Zumo 550 now a paperweight

Red Wing. You should not have to load the maps to your 550 from the Garmin server. I do just about the same process as you described. But I did not see one thing that I have writtten down... Copy file GarminDevice.xml to the Garmin folder on the SD card. Remove any maps from the SD card. I then use...

Re: Is my Zumo 550 now a paperweight

Great news. I was able to get the most recent maps loaded to my Zumo 550 with email help from mother Garmin. Here are the details leading up to the problem: 1. I own a Zumo 550 and a Zumo XT. 2. The maps on my pc were loaded with the Zumo XT attached. 3. I was trying to use MapInstall to load the ne...

Re: Is my Zumo 550 now a paperweight

Thanks for the replies. Somehow I was able to get the darn thing working again with the older maps that were on the unit. I've got a ride of several hours planned for today and will again attempt to install updated maps at some time in the future. When that happens I will return here and let you kno...

Is my Zumo 550 now a paperweight

So I was in the process of updating the maps on my old Zumo 550 which has lifetime maps. It currently has 2021.2 maps on it and now I can't even open them. After I thought I was loading 2023.2 maps to the sd card I put the card in the Zumo and got the message "Maps not unlocked". Now I hav...

New to Zumo XT and soooo many questions

WOW! This whole thing of getting used to using a new Zumo XT and Basecamp sure is a challenge for a 75 year old that is accustomed to using a Zumo 550 with Mapsource. 1. I've got enough understanding of Basecamp that I can now plan a route and transfer it to my gps by plugging the Zumo into my pc. I...

Re: Low audio volume

Thanks for all the responses. After trying them all without success I contacted Chris Short at Palm Dr who repairs broken GPS units about this issue. He told me that the Zumo 550 sometimes needs to be taken apart and repaired internally for audio volume issues. He said he should be able to do this ...

Re: Low audio volume

I have to ask, just to eliminate them You have checked both the master and media volume levels on the Zumo, correct? The Zumo music and navigation volume are both set at 100 percent. You have not, by accident, pressed the mute button on the wings audio? No, the mute button has not been depressed. I...
