Yep, just had the same big red failure box problem on both my XT & XT2. Still have my Nav V so I just used that and it worked. I like your solution much better!

...Be aware that if you have a lot of mp3 files, it can take the Zumo a long time to process them... FWIW, I have about 1,760 music files totaling around 9.8 GB on my 32 GB SD card. Haven't noticed any significant slow down on my XT2 nor do I remember any on my XT which has the same music file set....

Perhaps it is the new V9 hardware.

FWIW, I ordered my XT2 from the Amazon USA Garmin Store on 29 May 2023 and its hardware is at V8 with all the subsequent numbers following being the same as listed above. With regard to the rest of your info everything whose name matches seems to be the same.
