Re: Waypoints - Proximity and alerting

Thanks Sussamp, pretty much as of suspected as various trials weren't yielding much success. I know the proximity alerts previously worked with my Etrex.

Waypoints - Proximity and alerting

I've been using Basecamp and various Gps's for quite a while now but would like some info on the following queries. In Basecamp I can specify a "Proximity" value on a waypoint (Denoted by a red ring - see attached jpg) - I assume the theory is if, for instance, I set a value of 1mile diame...

Re: Not routing properly with OSM Street maps

Thanks for the replies. Yes I'd tried disabling the CN standard maps - no difference. Seems to be as Sussamb suggested - third party maps just throw wobbles! From now on I'll stick to the standard maps when routing through anywhere new and use topo maps when just bimbling about! Every day's a school...

Not routing properly with OSM Street maps

Has anyone found that the XT will not route properly with OSM Street Maps? When I activate these maps I lose Distance to Next Turn and Speed Limits. If the route includes a Waypoint I can't get past that! The unit keeps trying to route back to that point, even trying to skip the waypoint leads to od...

Re: Recording Route

Just got mine and out for a short run today. Don't think you even need to start the Track Recorder. It automatically records your track as you ride. If there's a particular part of a run you want to have in a track of its own then you can use the track recorder (but from what I see the automatic tra...

Re: Off or power save?

If it's the same logic as the Montana 680, press and hold the power button and the unit will turn off after about 2 seconds.

Re: Dashboard choices

Thanks for the reply and the info. Yes I have to agree that the Montana can be a bit frustrating on road! As an additional question then do you find the screen area on the xt, with the banners, is more than on the Montana? Someone did post on a forum a programming "hack" to make the banner...

Dashboard choices

I'm currently using a Montana 680 but I like the size of the xt screen. Is it possible to have a "clean" map screen on the xt (when not navigating) I.e. with no banners? One of the many advantages of the Montana is the ability to have numerous profiles with as much or little (or no ) infor...
