5.03 - Test Route 01 - Shaping Points
The Route - Test 01
- Route created as a GPX file and place in Interal Storage/GPX folder
- 8 Route Points - The same coordinates for every test
- 2 Via Points (start and end), 6 shaping points
- All Route points given a name starting a number 01, .... , 08.
- 8 Waypoints with same coordinates are displayed to show original locations.
- No Waypoints are used in this route.
- The XT2 is not linked to the Tread App
The Tests
- To see if route point names change
- To see if the route changes
- To see whether route points move
- To observe different behaviour between Via and Shaping Point
- To observe any differences if Tread is involved.
The Results
- Pic 1: Shows the original data compared with the XT2 list immediately after import.
- Pic 1: Only 2 route point names have been retained.
- Pic 2: Route points and waypoint (triangles) are plotted in the same place - The shaping point is located at the top of the Waypoint Triangle.
- Zoom in (not shown): Reveals a slight difference in lat/long coordinates
- Pic 2: The route has not altered.

Route 01 - Tread Active
Ater Synching Route 01 with Tread.
- The Route was imported and allowed to synch
- There are no waypoints used in this route
- Waypoints are used to mark the location of the original route points. They are not part of the route.
- Not all syncronisation happens immediately so I waited and then forced synch on the phone app AND on the XT2.
- Waited for at least two orange Explore synch symbols and two blue circle synch symbols

The Results - Tread Active
- Pic 3: Shows that name changes have occured - different from the test without Tread.
- Pic 4: Shows that all shaping point shave moved relative to the original waypoint markers.
- Pic 4: Shows that the route has moved onto the motorway away from the original A6
- Pic 4: Shows that 3 shaping points have been moved from the A6 onto the M6
- Pic 5: Shows shaping point that was 05. It has moved 1.4 miles SSE from its original location
- The route has changed substantially.

5.03 - Test Route 01 - Shaping Points
The information on these pages has been acquired from personal experience of using and testing the behaviour of Basecamp and my Zumos XT and XT2. I have no links with Garmin except that I raise issues about my Zumos' behaviours from time to time. These pages are presented for interest only rather than instructions.
