Custom POIs
It is possible to make your own POIs in your own Custom POI database. They do not form any part of a route, but they can be displayed on the map and are searchable.
A Custom POI contains a location, an icon, and possibly a sound file. The icon is shown on the map all of the time, and when you get within a specified distance, your sound file is played, or you get the normal speed camera like bing-bing. A message is displayed across the top of the screen showing the name of the CustomPOI.
The icons in my example were set with a perimeter of 0.3 miles. As soon as I get within 0.3 miles of the location, the alert sounds and plays.

Example
The image shows a screen shot as I approach a green icon - off the route to the left, and a larger white icon upahead. The Bing-Bong chime has sounded.
Tour Guide POIs
These are very similar to Custom POIs - but each point can be allocated a different icon. A different sound file (mp3) can be played. A different proximity radius can be set. Each point can be assigned a picture which is displayed on the screen when you break the perimeter.
The image on the right shows two screenshots of the same thing. One is taken on the XT2 running v5.40 software, the other is running v6.10 software.
Both show the POI image being displayed immediately after the perimeter of 0.3 miles was entered. The Sound file ha dbeen played the picture displayed and the title bar shows the name of the POI - "B03".
The difference is that the left hand screen shows TWO POI locations - a green one B03 off route to the leftto the left, and a white one underneath the finish flag. The right hand screen does not show any of the POIs on the map. A 6.10 glitch ?
